Ravenna

The complex of the first Christian monuments of Ravenna, capital of the Western Roman Empire, of the Kingdom of the Ostrogoths and of the Byzantine Army, is included in the list of Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Disputed between Florence and Ravenna for many years, the mortal remains of Dante Alighieri were finally laid to rest in this town in Romagna.
