Montecatini Terme is a town in Tuscany, in the province of Pistoia in the heart of the Val di Nievole. The most important feature of this town is represented by its hot water springs, the spas, around which numerous establishments have developed in perfect art nouveau and neo-gothic styles. The archaeological remains found in the city suggest that the thermal activity was already present in Roman times, but the construction of the first real buildings dates back to a period ranging from 1773 to 1779. Do not miss the experience of the ride on the funicular that leads to Montecatini Alto: the two carriages date back to 1850 and have remained as they were, with completely wooden interiors.
